1988 Twins

If you've never seen this film, then let me explain, the twin brothers are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. To go even further into fantasy, Arnie, known for low dialogue movies and action, plays an intelligent scientist against DeVito's more usual streetwise persona.

Separated at birth, they are brought together on their 35th birthdays when the father comes clean. Arnie sets out in pursuit of his brother and comedy ensues.

This movie marked his first foray into comedy for Schwarzenegger, a risk the studio took after both actors agreed to be paid just 20% of the movies takings, unsure if audiences would want to see their terminator making people laugh. It was a risk that worked, and the two actors were paid handsomely from the box office returns.

Directed by Ivan Reitman, the man behind Ghostbusters, it is now considered a comedy classic and still holds up well today, so long as you don't pay attention to the science.

Arnie and DeVito clearly enjoy each others acts, and this movie cemented both as stars of the decade. DeVito coming from a sitcom background and Arnie from bodybuilding, it is amazing how Hollywood brings people together.

The two would go on to make another movie together, again directed by Reitman, called Junior; and Arnie would team up with Reitman to make Kindergarten Cop. Once you get over seeing such a huge man be funny, there is a lovely story here and some good performances, not least from the two leads who carry it off believably.

The movie was the fifth highest grossing of the year, with $216m.
